Nameplate Project

Well I went to go see the babies last week! They are adorable! So cute and tiny! They are all doing well and progressing everyday! Which is a really good sign! Little Chloe had a set back last night so hopefully she will have a good day today! I just feel like today is going to to be a good day! So hopefully it will be! Maybe I will win the 500 million dollar lottery jackpot tonight and my blog will feature my life after winnings. Haha! Below is my first craft which is crazy simple and a cute little thing for any kids room. It also cost me NOTHING!! Since I used things I already had.

When I went to see the babies in the NICU I noticed that they had name plates, but they were so hospital and nothing special. They are going to be there for a couple months so might as well style it up! And then these name plates can be used in their room after.

I first downloaded a font from dafont.com (which I have to say is a cool font site even though designers will tell you NOoooo!! They are horribly made fonts! But, they are free and some of them are cute!) I used Adobe Illustrator to lay out the names, but you can use any program from publisher to word. (I would have to return my degree if I used those programs) So I simply laid out the names and printed them out on cardstock.

I then found some leftover green ribbon and cut that into four separate and equal pieces.

Lastly, I cut out the names, but made sure I left excess paper on both sides of the names to punch holes on the sides later. I then tied the green ribbon from one side of the name to the other side so it can hang. (Make sure when your tying the ribbon the knot faces the same direction on both sides so, the name will not twist upside down and stay flat when you hang it!)

It's not any rocket science project, but it something special for each baby to have to classy up their station in the NICU!

I have also started to use instagram lately. It's an easier way to get pictures up. You can follow me at katydee12. My first picture is below. It's of my elephant jimbo that my boy gave me one day. Apparently he just saw it and knew I would love it! Well I do LOVE elephants : )

Babies are HERE!!!

Well without further ado....the babies have arrived!!! A week later than I thought but they arrived at night on March 19th between 11:53PM and 11:55PM EST. The names are as follows:

Avery Kaelin
Bailey Rae
Chloe Anne
Xavier Seth

All between weights of 2.6 - 2.13 lbs. I am hopefully going to see them tonight! I am over the moon excited! And, so proud of Cassie for pulling through after 29 weeks!! It was a long road, but she did it! All babies are breathing on their own and apparently some cried when they were delivered which is an amazing sign!! They are still hooked up to every tube possible, but are doing amazing! I will be bringing cupcakes from "Baked By Melissa" in celebration! (also since Cassie is OBSESSED with them!)

From a proud auntie-to-be!!

1, 2, 3, 4, are there any more??

Well, it was another long but happy week at work and in life, and then a crazy weekend as always. It is so warm outside and supposed to be 70 all week!! I received my girl scout cookie order today!! I don't know what it is about these cookies, but they are amazing!!

Today seems like a good day to introduce my future sister-in-law Cassie! I have two wonderful future sisters, Sierra and Cassie! They are just wonderful people and I am excited to get more sisters! Especially older sisters! I have a younger sister who I love dearly, but I have always wanted an older sister. I do have an older sister Julie, but she went to heaven before I was born. I do feel like she does guide me when I need older sister help.

Well, Sierra has 2 little boys who I adore! They are 2 1/2 and 9 months old. I don't get to see them a lot (which I have to change!) But, I love watching them grow and learn! You can follow her homeschooling blog at www.his4homeschooling.blogspot.com where she talks about all the craziness of homeschooling her lovies. Then, there is Cassie! Cassie and I have had a special bond since I met her. Sierra is my boy's sister and Cassie is my boy's brother's wife. So, Cassie and I have that in common. We also are a day apart in birthdays! It is always so much fun to celebrate our birthdays together and get spoiled by our men! Cassie has no sisters, but two brothers while I have a sister and 3 brothers. We understand the drama of everything and watch all the crappy reality shows together! Cassie and I can talk about anything and everything!

We learned this past October that Cassie was pregnant with quadruplets!! The whole family was in shock, but so grateful for all the blessings. Cassie has 2 little ones already. One who is 18 months and one who is 13. They are awesome kids! Who I have gotten to know so well and see grow up! See, since Cassie found out, she and her husband (my boy's brother) decided they would move back in with his parents. So, everyday practically I come over to my boy's house and see them both! It is defiantly showing me quickly how hard an 18 month old can be! He is wonderful don't get me wrong! I love him to pieces! But, even the most amazing 18 month olds are always a handful!

I love coming through the door and having him yell my name out and say hello to me! It makes me look forward to when I have kids! (which won't be for awhile, don't get your hopes up!) So, for the last month or so Cassie has been in the hospital bedridden and waiting for these babies! We have all been running around crazy getting the house ready for the babies, seeing Cassie in the hospital, and taking care of Cassie's kids. She is 28 weeks tomorrow and we are hoping she will go to at least 30 weeks, but her contractions have been to constant at the moment.

Which brings me to my point for the post. I might be an auntie to 4 more beautiful babies by tonight!! It is exciting and overwhelming all at the same time! We won't feel the effects soon because the babies will be in the hospital for awhile, but I can't wait to see these babies already and start seeing the personalities and how every one's life will be shaped for the better. A child is a gift to this world and should never be taken for granted. I have always believed that we are never given more then we can handle, and to never take life for granted. I can't wait to have a front-row seat to seeing these babies grow because I know it will make me a stronger person and develop my patience and my nurturing.

Cassie we love you and we wish you all the best! Super excited!!

Wedding, china, and songs

It arrived Friday!! And I didn't get to open it till Saturday but I opened all 12 sets to look at every plate individual. I am in LOVE! The plates are Opal Innocence Scroll by Lenox. It comes with a dinner plate, salad plate, and bread plate. Who knew you would need a plate just for bread??? But, my waiter brother told me that yes it was a bread plate and not to be confused for a dessert plate. Apparently you clean the salad plate and use it for dessert. Hmmmmm....

But they are gorgeous! And I can't wait to use them!

It also came with a coffee cup and saucer. They are just as gorgeous as the plates! Me and the boy don;t drink coffee (I know were crazy!) But, who says we can't have hot chocolate in them : ) and my mother said that we can just make coffee for them when they come over! (That was the unspoken deal with these plates.)

I was also given the magazine "the knot" by my mother's friend for an engagement gift. A wonderful magazine! And after looking at dresses colors and from front cover to back cover....I decided I was off the purple train and on the green train! It goes better with my theme and I might still incorporate some purple in there. I have not decided. But, in May the flowers are just starting to come up so I think ivories and greens would go better with that setting.

I have also decided to add lace on invites and placecards and everything to tie in with my future dress. I LOVE lace, and I LOVE rustic. I can't fully show my appreciation for it all right now until I move into a place of my own. But, I am excited for this change in colors. Now only if I could sleep at night instead of thinking what color the bridesmaid dresses will be now!!

Happy Monday!!

Update!!

So here is an update:

I went to my first bridal show with my sister and mom. It was a lot of fun and even better because I got to hang with them all day. I am now being hounded by all the vendors where I left my name. A mistake I won't make again! (If I win one more honeymoon or face treatment I am going to burst!!) But, I am understanding quickly how many choices and decisions go into planning a wedding. It is insane! Like I really care if I assign people where to sit at the ceremony or what the napkin color is!?? (But deep down I do care what the napkin color is...but still don't care about the pew arrangements.)

We had my future niece's 13th birthday with a mardi gras theme. I can't believe she is 13!! She makes me feel so old! I met her when she was 6!! It's insane. During that weekend my future sister-in-law was admitted to the hospital. She is the one pregnant with quadruplets. She was having contractions and we thought she was going to go into labor which would not be good! She was only 25 weeks then. Now she is 26 weeks and 2 days!! Yay!! (But, she is in the hospital till she gives birth now!) She needs to make it to 28 weeks and then they will have a 90% chance of all surviving. So we are praying and hoping!

My boy and I visited a possible reception site last weekend!! It was so exciting to go and I fell in LOVE with it! It is extremely unique and quirky! Just what I want! I want people to walk away from the wedding and say that I looked beautiful, the wedding was beautiful, and the food was awesome! I guess three things they should think! The place is outside, but covered so if it rains (which I will cry) the show can still go on! We are thinking May so I will be documenting everyday of May this year to see how the weather is like. And then I will hope next year is somewhat the same!

We also did other things like going through a car wash! Sorry if I'm a child with this, but I was soooooo upset when they banned people from going through the car wash! It was something I looked forward to when I was young and would stop whatever I was doing to join my parents on the adventure! A fond childhood memory. We found one right by my house and it was the most enjoyment I have had in awhile! Pure bliss!

Another exciting thing was that my parents bought my boy and I our wedding china for an engagement present!!! I was soooo thrilled and I can't wait for it to get here! I will be stalking the mailman until it appears!

I am also starting a diet because I will never fit into my dream wedding gown looking like I do. So, I am trying to eat heathlier. I got a yogurt parfait from subway today and it was sooooooo good! And, it's keeping me full! Which is needed because between lunch and breakfast I get hungry and that's when I snack. But, the size is smaller then the picture I saw haha. I took a picture next to my water bottle so you could see the size difference. And yes this is a 17 fl oz water bottle. Still good and I recommend it!

Other things that are noteworthy....the Giants won the superbowl!! We were so happy when they did! A great engagement gift! : ) The reason why it was so important was because the year my boy's brother got married the Giants won and now the year we get engaged they do! : ) So it's a good omen over here! Also, there was Valentine's Day. After having sooooooo many flowers for the proposal my boy got me a pink stuffed poodle that reminded him of my dogs at home! Haha! So cute! I also got my engagement ring resized! Now I won't feel like I'm going to lose it!

But, that is all for now...a music recommendation is:
