Out of Commission

So these past two weeks I have been out of commission! Sick with no voice, congestion, a headache, and hurt ribs from coughing so much. But, after Saturday I woke up and my fiance and his mother deemed it necessary that I go to the doctor. I am glad I went and I am now on medicine.

So, we had the overjoyedness of being engaged last week! I got my wedding binder and then took the last two weeks off because I was so tired from being sick I couldn't concentrate on anything wedding. I went out with some good friends Wednesday and did not have one moment where we weren't laughing! I LOVE catching up with old friends! I also got to visit another friend's new apartment which I am in LOVE with! Her rooms should be in magazines because she is such a wonderful decorator! She found these beautiful candles from pier one that I am in LOVE with and I made her promise to get me some when she goes back!

She was also the first one to give us a an engagement gift! Backstory on that one : I have an obsession with teapots. I attribute it to my grandma who has an array of teapots in her house. ((I hope that the collection is handed down to me because I LOVE it all!)) So, it started off with my boy giving me a teapot every Christmas, which has been a tradition for the last 3 years. Then, everyone found out I love teapots and started buying me them. I now have TONS of teapots and I have no room in my tiny space at my parent's house to display them all. So, with the teapot fascination came one with salt and pepper shakers because of lack of room. My boy's mom started with those to match the teapot he would get me every christmas. So, my friend knew about this addiction and got my boy and I chinese salt and pepper shakers! One is a fortune cookie with a fortune that says "happiness" and another is a chinese take out box that says "enjoy". My boy LOVES chinese food and I LOVE salt and pepper shakers so it's a win win!!

They are just adorable and so thoughtful! I am now falling in LOVE with pier one, and need these coasters ASAP!

Some other things are that I am going to my FIRST bridal expo this Sunday with my sister and mom! I am excited just to go and see what is out there and get prices for things. We have not set a date yet and probably won't for a couple months, but our imaginary time frame is May 2013, so we can go with that!

Other things I wanted to add are 3 new songs I have been listening to which I am OBSESSED with! I get crazy with songs and have to listen to them constantly until I get it out of my system! So here are those:

Florence + The Machine : "No Light, No Light" album : Ceremonials
Ambassadors : "Litost" album : Litost
Hunter Hayes : "Wanted" album : Hunter Hayes

A must listen for all songs! They are all so beautiful! Florence + The Machine is a powerful song while the other two are slower and softer.

Happy Thursday!!

Are we in the right room?????

I don't think I have been this happy EVER!!! I can't sleep at night....I can't even get through work without being distracted by the glitteringness coming from my finger! Yes! That's right I am ENGAGED!!! I did not even know it was going to happen! But, this past weekend my life changed forever!

Just look at that RING! It's soooo beautiful and sooo me!! I stare at it all day. I wake up in the morning and look at it and SQUEL a little teenage girl squeal! You think about it all the time in your head about how it is going to happen and how you will react, and I could never have imagined any of it!

So this past weekend the boy and I went to Atlantic City to go see Rascal Flatts. They are our favorite band and we can recite all of the words. I was so excited to go! I couldn't stop talking about how excited I was to him. I just kept saying. "I can't wait to get away! We need to relax! These past few weeks have been so stressful!" I must have said all this twenty billion times to him. The main reason we were going was my belated birthday present. I am the one who came up with it because I wanted to go "do something" instead of "getting something". An experience is always more memorable than an object, and this weekend was sure to be remembered!

So, we left Saturday afternoon after me first forgetting my laptop and we went back to my house and when we were around the corner I saw that I forgot my phone. I was just so excited that I was forgetting everything! We finally hit the road while singing Rascal Flatts the whole way down! We got to the hotel and relaxed a bit before we freshened up and got ready to go to the casinos. I was getting ready in the bathroom and when I came out I saw that Shea was tidying up the room. Now, that should have been my first clue because guys this man is not more for cleanliness. Not even close. So, I saw him cleaning and go, "so, now you decide to be clean," and he goes "well maybe I don't want your stuff all over the place." I laughed and kept getting ready. Shea kept badgering me to hurry up, but I was moving as fast as I could.

We then took a cab to Caesar's and headed for the casiono's. (keep in mind that we had a late lunch, but it was 6pm and we had not eaten anything since 3pm) We headed to the slots and Shea told me he had to go to the bathroom so just sit here and he would be back. I looked at the slots and tried to figure out how they even worked and got stumped. I got up and started walking around to see if I could see other people setting up their slots. No luck. I then found a machine where I thought I needed a member card so I went in search for a member card. When I still couldn't find that I gave up and headed to the bathrooms. I figured I would wait outside for Shea to come out and tell him the slots were too complicated for my pretty self to figure out. I waited and waited, and the boy did not appear. I then took out my cellphone and texted him, "what are you doing in the bathroom??!!" When I didn't get a response I called him and he picked up, "where are you? Outside the bathroom where are you?? Ooo..I see you." and he reappeared behind me. I asked him what exit he took out the bathroom and he said he got lost coming out. And, my excitedness over took my brain and I said Oooo okay! And we moved on. (He was really calling the hotel to make sure everything was going smoothly!)

We played the slots for awhile. (apparently you could just put $5 into the machine and didn't need a member card..whoops!) Shea won both times and I lost all my money. We then started towards the boardwalk and went to trump plaza where Shea won $50 on the roulette table. I told him I won on the table because I was the one calling the "red or black" cues, but he insisted it was a joint effort. Our final destination was Boardwalk Hall to see Rascal Flatts, and OMG they were AMAZING!!! I would see them again in a heartbeat!

There was 2 acts before them who were good, but they were AMAZING!! So soo glad we got to see them! During the concert Shea kept asking when it was going to be over and I said probably not till 11pm. Little did I know he had never been to a concert before so he did not know this. We were also STARVING!! During the encore Shea turned to me and said his legs were shaking. So, we left soon after and headed back to the hotel to get some food. Me being the one who gets us lost at least once during every trip thought I knew where the taxis were, but I ended up bring us to the parking garage instead...whoops! We ended up walking all the way back to the hotel, and now we were starving and in need of a bathroom! We got off the elevator and headed to our room, but I was five steps ahead because I had to go to the bathroom. I get to the door and open it, and in the dark I can make out rose petals on the floor. I turn to Shea and say, "are we in the right room???" He doesn't say a word, but turns on the lights. The whole floor is covered with rose petals. On the bed there is a heart made out of rose petals. There is champagne, chocolate strawberries, and 3 bouquets of flowers!! One bouquet of a dozen roses, and 2 bouquets of 6 roses each, 3 lily's, and 3 orchids. (my favorite flowers!)

In my stupor of shockness I turn to him and give him a hug and say "Awwww your such a nice boyfriend this is so romantic!" He pushes me away and heads down on one knee and I say "Holy F&#K!!" He says I broke his concentration and I say "I'm sorry go on." He says a beautiful speech and asks the four most magical words, "will you marry me?" I say YES!!! and take the ring out of the box and put it on my finger! (I'm a little impulsive!) And grab him for a kiss! I start freaking out and no words would come out at all! I "Miss Never Stop Talking" could not form a sentence! He laughs and kisses me again and then says "lets get food!" haha! We ordered room service and I have to say that I don't know if it was because we were so hungry, but the burgers we got from room service were the best burgers we had EVER had!!! We ate everything in a split second and cracked open the champagne and cheered to our new life together!! Then, began the phone calls to everyone and his brother saying that he was the one who sent us the chocolate covered strawberries! (Sooo sweet!) There was so much excitement in everyone we called! My sister cried on the phone she was so happy!

The next morning (after me not being able to fall asleep till 3am) we got up and ate the chocolate covered strawberries for breakfast. Then, we rushed home to see family all day! (Not before me telling the bell hop I was engaged and going crazy! I wanted to tell everyone!) Once we told all of our close family I had to post it on Facebook to tell all of our friends! The love we have around us is overwhelming and we feel it sooo much! And we are so glad that we get to share our excitement with everyone!

The newly engaged couple! We are so cute! And so happy!!

Big Blue Wrecking Crew

So yesterday the New York Giants won the NFC Conference Championship which means they are on their way to the Super Bowl!! We are very excited over here since we are big Giants fans!

Six years ago I did not know a punt from a touchdown and now I surprise my boy everyday with my vast knowledge. I attribute that to my great memory of useless knowledge, or my trying to make him think I am paying attention, but whatever it is he always seems impressed. He will be talking about a team and forget the name of their quarterback and I will chime in with the correct answer. I surprise myself sometimes.

See the key to making it look like you know a lot is to not just know the useless knowledge of your team, but to know other teams useless knowledge! And if you have a boy like mine who talks non-stop during the game and all week about it you are sure to start retaining some of it. I can actually have discussions with my own brothers about football and they won't sit there and say, "Hey you are a girl! You don't know anything!" But, they actually don't look as well versed as I am in football, and I can actually put them to shame!

Not that I expect my boy to know everything about my design field, but he can surprise me sometimes when he talks about the color wheel and complementary colors! He's a cutie!

So today my job was to go get the official NFC Champion Giants hats while I was at work. I took this duty upon myself since I was not going to let my pregnant eventual sister-in-law lift a finger! ((She is pregnant with quads! But that's another post!)) So, I being the good girlfriend said I would take this task on and buy the hats for our men. Like really how hard could it be? I work in New York.

Well, after getting off the train I tried Kmart, Duane Reade, and every shop in Penn Station before I quit and decided I shouldn't be that late to my so called "job" so I booked it for the subway and went on goggle when I got to work. I searched for Modells and went there on my lunch break. You would have thought a Giants player was coming in to sign the hats based on the presentation of this small Modells. There was a set up of everything that they could possibly make with the words "NFC Champion" on it. There was hardly any walking space and I was asked by ten different people if I wanted to accessorize the hat with a shirt, keychain, sticker... I JUST WANT THE FREAKIN' HAT!! Finally, at the register and the hat rang up as $27.99. That is one expensive "they win the Super Bowl and the hat will be useless" hat. But, that is what the boys requested.

Still trying to figure out why my boy needs the hat. He has a hat from when they won the Super Bowl four years ago and I have never seen it on his head. It does a great job of collecting dust on his shelf though! Well boys will be boys I guess.

Happy Tuesday if you can find happiness in it!!

Package your life....

I know I am a trend now! Didn't think I would ever start a blog. I always wanted to...not because I thought people would read it...but it can turn into a venting place. A place where you can talk and show and help (other people or yourself!). I think my blog will be all over the place. That's why I titled it "Package you Life." Okay there might be other reasons...like the fact that I am a package designer and I couldn't resist putting the word package in the title.

But when you think of the words "Package your Life" it can mean lots of things. Is your life a neat and tidy box with a ribbon on top? Is yours still open and not ready to be sealed yet? Right now I feel like my life package has been thrown over a fence and smashed (kind of like what that fedex guy got caught on camera doing!). I won't get into it now. That will just have to be another blog post : )

But I hope to post DIY crafts. Books, designs, life, and maybe hopefully a wedding down the road! I can just see my boyfriend now making fun of the title and I'm ready for all the "that's what she said" comments to come!

So enjoy! And Happy Friday!
